Green Spaces & Outdoor Fun

Cypress Park is a go-to for sports, families, and outdoor workouts. It features five baseball fields, four soccer fields (two artificial turf), several pickleball courts, a playground, and a fitness track. Perfect for afternoons outdoors.

Riverside Park, at 205 Coral Ridge Drive, blends fitness and leisure. You’ll find nine pickleball courts, outdoor fitness stations, obstacle and ninja courses for all ages, plus a domed climbing playground, plenty of shaded picnic areas and paved walking paths to enjoy sunsets.

Three Mountains Natural Area offers a more peaceful escape. Tucked away at 9200 N.W. 1st Street, this neighborhood park features wooded trails, benches, picnic tables and a playground. Open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset.

Wildlife, Culture & Indoor Options

The Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, located in Sportsplex Park, is a five-acre nonprofit filled with native Florida animals. Visitors can tour the exhibits, learn in the outdoor classroom, see the rehab hospital, and help support wildlife conservation.

When the weather doesn’t cooperate or you’re looking for quiet indoor time, Nestlings’ Nook is a nature-inspired indoor playground (ages 0-14) mixing STEAM, arts, and wellness programs. Great spot for young families.

Also worth checking out is the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, a theater that stages performances ranging from musicals and pop to family-friendly productions. A nice choice for an evening out.

Tips to Help Plan Your Weekend

  • Check park hours ahead—many close at sunset and courts or lights may shut off earlier. Riverside Park’s courts, for example, close at 9 p.m.
  • Bring water, snacks, and sun protection—South Florida sun and humidity can sneak up fast.
  • If visiting the Sawgrass Nature Center, donate or plan ahead—they’re open only during certain hours and admission is modest.
  • Have a backup plan—indoor spaces like Nestlings’ Nook or cultural venues can save a day lost to rain or heat.

Whether you’re after an active day outdoors or a soothing cultural afternoon, Coral Springs has plenty in its backyard to explore. Choose your adventure!
